What kind of therapist am I?

I am not a quiet, sweet therapist. Sometimes being with me may not feel like therapy at all. I am warm, kind and funny. But rest assured, I take the work very seriously, even if I seem relaxed.
My attention is always on you- I listen intently, try and attune to you as much as I can, look for patterns, respond with humanity and understanding, I use my intuition and try and see what is below the surface and not immediately obvious.
It doesn't matter whether we are talking about your childhood, how your day has been or how you are feeling in the room. You can talk about what you like - the process of finding out who you are is the same.
I never judge, however badly you are judging yourself, or have been judged before. I already know that everything is understandable if you look carefully enough. I believe that therapy is somewhere you should thrive, not something to survive, even when the going gets tough- which it probably will.
One of my clients once described me as, 'a cross between a power move and a bear hug' and I think that is probably true.
